May 7 2021 What a difference a year makes As Titans begin to return to campus this summer and fall they may notice some changes While most faculty staff and students were working virtually large construction projects were underway many of them tied to the university s physical master plan As Cal State Fullerton continues to renovate and repair older structures new housing is planned for the next phase of construction to accommodate more students The first student housing units on campus were built in 1988 and will be demolished after years of maintenance and safety issues The cost for the new housing is estimated to be 180
On Friday August 26 California State University Fullerton cut the ribbon on its new residence halls in Fullerton California The 99 1 M 185 505 SF housing project leverages building mass and landscape to create an insulated community to serve 600 sophomores and juniors and provides diverse spaces that will support a wide variety of programmed and unexpected experiences This fall 600 new students moved into Cal State Fullerton s newest housing community The new development is the first suite style community and will complement some of the university s traditional residence halls and apartments

The CSUF physical campus master plan was approved by unanimous vote by the CSU Board of Trustees on July 21 This was followed an hour later by a second unanimous vote to approve the university s student housing phase 4 plans The following day a third unanimous vote carried the motion to approve the renaming of Nicholas and Lee Begovich The student housing structure located between the Gastronome and the new Eastside Parking Structure will house sophomores and juniors and is estimated to cost 125 million CSUF hired Sundt Construction as the contractor for the project the company previously built a similar housing structure for Cal Poly Pomona
